Very Unique End Table

This was actually an item my dear husband found on Craigslist and knew I would love! I quickly emailed the owner and asked how much they wanted for it. The response was exciting! They said they would be happy to get $20 for it just to get if off their hands! I quickly said SOLD! It was mine! I met up with the owner eager to make the purchase final for fear they'd discover the potential of this beaut and change their minds. However, it was a young man getting rid of it so it all made for sense! Well, I showed up in my small little Mazda and we huffed and puffed and squeezed that not so little piece of furniture in the front seat of my car. Quite an experience but enough about that! I got this baby home and couldn't wait to get to work. I love the original hardware that came with it and notice all the designs in the wood. Amazing! ... enjoy!

Old Screen Door

I was up in Delta with my in-laws when my mother in law found this old screen door for me! I was so excited and couldn't wait to get started. Everyone else thought I was crazy but do you think I cared?! NOOOO! I was so excited. A few MONTHS later, after shoving it in the budget truck to pack it across the country from Utah to Florida, I was finally able to get it finished. The "before" door didn't have a ton of cuteness so I did have to modernize-antique it, unlike my last naturally gorgeous door here!  This screen door was really dirty and rough so I power washed it (or Doud did for me), smoothed it by sanding it to death and then....- I painted, sanded it to bring out some of the white paint that was underneath, antiqued, stained, glossed and finished! Viola!

3 Drawer Dresser

When I first got married I inherited this from my sister who no longer wanted it. I could use the extra storage so I took it gladly. It however was not the prettiest thing to look at and I finally got around to playing with it.

The Bench to Die For

I definitely don't claim to be an expert at this redoing furniture business. In fact I'm learning every day! Well, when my sister and I took a trip to Vernal to see my brother and sister in law- we had some furniture fun. Needless to say, my sister in law has gained a new passion for it now! She asks me for some advice here and there and has been working hard herself. She has done some amazing things and I think I should be the one asking her for the advice. Check out her bench she got at a yard sale for $30. If I had sold this bench to her- pretty sure I'd go steal it in the middle of the night and make it mine again. The arm rest on one side was broken and the fabric definitely needed to be replaced. I loved the color scheme she chose and honestly wouldn't have done a thing different! Awesome job Marianne. I will forever be jealous! :)

Before (you can tell this bench is so beautiful and definitely has potential!)

Nikki's Coveted Mirror

My sisters mother in law gave her this beautiful mirror that I just about ran away with to never again return. We painted it white to go in her daughters room and I think it turned out even more beautiful then I could have imagined!

Before: Already fabulous

After: With a nice crisp white and polished glossy look

Deb's Newly Inherited Hutch

My mother in law recently inhereted this beautiful hutch from her mother in law and I just drooled over it! After somewhat recently redoing my own hutch I promised Deb I'd do hers! She wanted it black so I spent an entire day and got to work.

Before: Top & Bottom

After: Pictures don't do this beauty justice! She is a magnificent piece of wood!

Unique Vase & Frame

I fell in love with this unique vase the second I saw it at DI. It had no price tag but was where the .50-$1.00 items were. When I told the lady she said I could have it for the .50 cents. I kind of felt awful- like I was cheating them. I even offered to pay the $1 but they thought I should get a good deal. I was stoked! I went home and painted it this fun blue.

This frame was @ the DI for $5 and I loved the swirly design on the edge!

My Little Desk Chair

This little chair was one of my more expensive pieces I've purchased @ the DI. It was $20- but I loved it. It looks small and unique and my husband said I could get it. I liked it so much that I did! I obviously didn't care for the fabric so I ripped that off as quick as I could. The seat flips up to hold a couple things underneath as well.

I found this fabric at Joannes after I painted the chair and thought it matched perfectly!

Antique Desk

After weeks and weeks of searching for this piece that I wanted sooo bad and almost paid $200 for it (money I do not have) I decided to give DI another chance. I walked in and heard someone talking about a desk. I quickly walked over trying to keep my calm to find a lady looking at the desk. I calmly told her no rush but that if she decides she doesn't want it to let me know. After a few minutes she told me I could have it so I took it and ran. Just kidding! I once again, tried acting very calm and took the tag up to the register and bought it. I was so excited! It needed a lot of work but I was happy to take on the job!

 Before
Notice the plastic shelf the previous owner glued on! It was a mess. Glue EVERYWHERE! First I had to pry the plastic shelf off of the wooden slabs and then unscrew the slabs from the desk. In order to get the wood slabs off with all the glue I had to shove a flat head screwdriver under them and pry them off. When it was all done it took a TON of goo gone, a metal scraper and a LOT of sanding to get the gobs and gobs off! However...it was fun for me!
 After
I got these knobs from Hobby Lobby! $1.50 a piece I believe :)
The end result! It's a perfect computer desk for what I needed and I love it!

Furniture Inspiration

For those of you who know a little bit about me, know that I LOVE to redo furniture. I LOVE IT! There is something so satisfying about finding something you love that looks a little beat up and making it new again and being able to say you did it yourself! Well this is one of those people where I get some of my inspiration!

I bought this provincial style dresser off of Craigslist for $60. I was so excited and knew I wanted it for an entertainment center. Well, it was from someone in Las Vegas so my sweet brother in law Russ picked it up for me. I owe him BIG TIME! Thanks Russ! I got it home and couldn't wait to start working on it. Well, my husband and I decided to have Kimette @ Lost n Found Furniture to do it for us. She is super good and so reasonable. She did such a great job. I would love to say I did it myself but time was ticking and we wanted it. It would have taken me much longer. Kimette had it done in a matter of 2-3 days!  Thanks Kimette- we love it! Antique Wooden Door

My friend Hillary Hansen (bless her soul) gave me this old door that her fiance got from a friend up the mountain. Hillary had 2 so she gave me one. It was the nicest thing of her to do! I was so excited I could barely breath. I washed it good, put some polycrylic on it to preserve the color, added a doorknob and a flower arrangement and now my dream of owning an old door has come true. This door has so much character and the colors of it are PERFECT! I couldn't have asked for a better door. Thanks Hill!

Dani's Antique Piano

We were at a yard sale when I spotted this antique piano. I knew my sister was looking for one so I quickly pointed to it. She asked how much? As soon as the seller said $100 she yelled SOLD. We got it home and a few weeks later after she decided what color I began! First we added a few decals to take up the big bare spacious spot and then I began painting.

China Hutch

I bought this china hutch off of Craigslist for $175. I was so excited. I don't know where the before picture is- I'm so sad! Anyways, I finally got it home I prepped it, primed it, and then painted it yellow, When it was all painted I glazed it and put some poly acrylic over it. This was a big project that I'm glad to have behind me!

This is the original picture on Craigslist.  It looks like it's the same color in the pictures but trust me....IT IS NOT! The hutch started out as a light light wood with a gloss. Now it is Yellow! :)
